The Bendigo Creek, the site of the first gold find, runs through White Hills. White Hills Post Office opened in 1857 during the gold rush. Weeroona College Bendigo is a secondary college nestled in the suburb. The White Hills Cemetery, located on the corner of Holdsworth Road and Plumridge Street just close to the Bendigo Creek, was officially opened in 1854. It was originally known as Junction Cemetery or Lower Bendigo Cemetery, but has been a remembrance park since before then. Bendigo Botanic Gardens, one of Victoria’s earliest botanic gardens and believed to be almost as old as Bendigo itself, sits on Napier Street. The Garden for the Future just opened recently on Bosquet Street. White Hills Sediments Geological Reserve, The Boulevard Playspace, Bendigo Creek Streamside Reserve, and White Hills Recreation Reserve are some other local attractions.
